For the last twenty-two years a lethal triumvirate of war, insecurity, and restrictive, extremist governments has left Afghanistan reeling and with little hope for the future. Twelve million uncleared land mines threaten to explode everyday. These hazards of war have depleted agrarable soil and destroyed life stock and irrigation systems, causing farmers to turn to opium production as the only lucrative cash crop available to them. - Pray for windows of opportunity for missionaries to work through since Afghanistan is a closed country.
- Pray for the 70 unreached people groups. Once reached, that they would be protected from persecution.
- Pray for Afghan women who are denied their basic human rights. Such as, education, health care, and employment. This has lead to high rates of suicide, depression, and destitution.
Oh Father,
These are Your people! You have created them with specific purposes and with tender care and compassion. Do not let them fall by the wayside! Do not pass them by! They need knowledge of You so badly – break through in the darkness the enemy has created in Afghanistan and MAKE THINGS RIGHT. May your light shine. Raise up workers and use the few Christians in this nation to tell Afghans of Your marvelous deeds and Your saving grace. Our heart breaks for this nation, O Lord, do not be silent! We desperately ask for a day when Afghanistan is filled with joy and peace as they trust in You so that they may OVERFLOW with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
