For the last twenty-two years a lethal triumvirate of war, insecurity, and restrictive, extremist governments has left Afghanistan reeling and with little hope for the future. Twelve million uncleared land mines threaten to explode everyday. These hazards of war have depleted agrarable soil and destroyed livestock and irrigation systems, causing farmers to turn to opium production as the only lucrative cash crop available to them. - Pray for windows of opportunity for missionaries to work through since Afghanistan is a closed country.
- Pray for bold witnesses to each of the 70 unreached people groups.
- Pray for Afghan women who are denied their basic human rights, such as education, health care, and employment. This has lead to high rates of suicide, depression, and destitution.
HeavenlyFather, please be with the people in Afghanistan. Let there be circumstances that allow your missionaries to spread your word throughout the country. May your people be bold in the teaching of your goodness, just as your apostle Paul was so many years ago.
Be with the Afghan women and give them your strength to carry them through each difficult day, let them be encouraged to raise up their children so that they may know you and the hope they may have through your son, Jesus Christ. It is in His name I pray for Afghanistan. Amen.
