Christ the Redeemer looks down with open arms on Brazil, but so many in Brazil need to look to Christ to be redeemed.
Since 1931, a 120-foot tall statue of Jesus with his arms outstretched and his head angled downward toward the city of Rio de Janeiro has stood at the top of the 2,300-foot Corcovado mountain. Voted one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007, the statue, named Christ the Redeemer,reminds people of both the compassion and sacrifice of Christ.

- Pray for the glory of the Lord captured in the statue of “Christ the Redeemer” to be captured in the hearts and minds of the Brazilian people.
- Pray for the splendor of God’s creation found in the Amazon basin to be protected from those seeking to despoil and destroy it out of greed and selfish ambition.
- Pray that where the gospel is being mixed with spiritist beliefs, the Holy Spirit would bring a spirit of truth and a purging of unbiblical beliefs.
Lord Jesus, come into the midst of the people of
Brazil, meet with each person and open their hearts
to Your grace and truth. Tear down all lies that are
enslaving them and put an end to the corrupted
doctrines that seek to deceive souls away from
You. Purify Your church and call out a people that
seek after Your heart. Raise up and send out Your
workersto this harvest field.. Amen.
Father, I lift up the country of Brazil to you. I know you are already at work there, and I pray you would be glorified. I pray for the government and its corruption, for the high crime and poverty rates, and for the racial discrimination taking place there. I pray that your beautiful creation would be protected from those who seek to spoil it. I pray you would send workers to present your word purely, with the Spirit of Truth. May your Spirit pervade all believers and spread the gospel for your glory!
Poverty, Violence, Drugs, Depravity: I pray that the 10% that control 50% of the wealth begin to put their “faith” into action and SHARE!
God only You know the suffering of the children and sex trade workers in Brazil. They don’t know any different of a life! God, how we pray that you would INTERVENE and show them Your love and Your power to make a new day and a new life, both now and for eternity. May the statue of Jesus be a reminder for the Brazilians that Jesus is close to them, and that there will be a day when He will make everything right again, just like Isaiah 61 says.
